I'm ready!

Well I'm all set. The shopping has been done. The exercise for the week planned, and some backup options have been also planned. I did the fitness test this morning with two delightful ladies who are also starting the program tomorrow. I really surprised myself in a couple of areas, and laughed off my failings in a couple of others.
So my failings are my abs strength - I couldn't even complete level 1, and the sit and reach test - hopelessly short hamstrings. So in those two areas I'm a beginner! Now for the bit that surprised me, I completed my 1km time trial comfortably within the intermediate range despite walking a couple of sections and the wall sit where I just scrapped into the intermediate level. Then my upper body strength placed me in the advanced level.
So my goals for the first four weeks is to get out of the beginner zone. I'm really not sure how I can achieve this in the sit and reach test, but I'm thinking plenty of stretching. For my appalling abs, it's got to be Abs, Butts and Thighs classes.
The girls and Gorgeous husband are supporting me every step of the way. The girls were awake early this morning and came with me, cheering me on and supporting me - I've given Gorgeous Husband the meal plan, and asked him if there is anything that he would refuse to eat, but so far he is happy to try every dinner, but would prefer to stick with his normal breakfast and lunch - fair enough!

Somewhat nervous, but also excited about tomorrow :D

Launch minus 3 days and counting

Let's call today Planning day. It's Friday morning, the girls are at school and preschool, and I have 5.5 hours to try and achieve the following:

  1. My job! Clearly a priority - I need to get paid! I only need 7.6 hours for that!
  2. Get some washing done! The girls sorted it for me after breakfast.
  3. Pretend that I'm going to tidy the kitchen. I honestly start every day with the good intention that today it will be done before gorgeous husband gets home - maybe today will be the day!
  4. Plan, Plan, Plan:
    1. My exercise - where, when, what, and backup plan in case (when!) things don't go to plan.
    2. My food intake. What's on this weeks menu. What will I refuse to eat (egg sandwiches), what can I put in it's place. What will gorgeous husband and the girls eat. When can I shop?
    3. Danger days - things that are in the diary that without planning will completely throw me off and before I know it I've eaten something completely wrong. This week there are 4 of these days - a hockey grand final on Wednesday, a birthday party / housewarming on Friday, a hockey presentation lunch on Saturday and a hockey grand final and presentation dinner on Sunday.
Time to crack on with it!

Welcome

Here goes for my first ever post, and my reason for being here. Firstly thank you for reading me. I've been amazed by the cleverness of my friends and their blogs, but never had a reason to blog in the past.

Now things are a little different - I'm almost 40, I'm overweight, constantly tired, and an appalling role model to my two beautiful daughters. It's time to change and I've signed up for Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation. This is my time for success. I've got the support of my gorgeous husband, I've got a job that allows me a degree of flexibility but there will also be challenges along the way. As well as being a mum and a full time employee I'm also a uni student trying to fulfill my dream of becoming a primary school teacher. I'm also keeping up with my own sport of field hockey (but as the goalkeeper I don't always get the full exercise benefit that a field player gets in a game). I'm going to Perth in a couple of weeks for 12 days, and I have to complete a 4 week in school placement. All these hurdles really are just a normal part of life - there never will be the perfect 12 weeks to undertake this journey, and if there were, I can imagine that I won't learn the lessons I need in life to stop the weight I lose creeping back on again afterwards.

Planning will be the key to success. Wish me luck!
